Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ziti, uncooked
  • 2 lbs ricotta cheese
  • 3 oz grated Romano cheese
  • 3 cups garlic & onion tomato sauce (any brand), ¼ cup reserved
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1½ lbs shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

  1. Cook the ziti according to package directions, 12–14 minutes until al dente, stirring often. Drain well but do not rinse.
  2. While the ziti cooks, preheat the oven to 350°F. Combine the ricotta, Romano, tomato sauce (minus the reserved ¼ cup), and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Gently fold the cooked ziti into the cheese-sauce mixture. Spread the reserved ¼ cup sauce in a 13x9x2-inch pan, add the ziti, and top with the mozzarella.
  4. Cover loosely with foil and bake until the mozzarella is fully melted, about 12–15 minutes. Serve with garlic bread and additional sauce.

  Chef's Tips

Don't rinse the ziti after draining — the starch helps the sauce cling. Serve with garlic bread and extra sauce on the side.
