Three-layer homemade peanut butter cups from the double boiler
Ingredients
- 1 package (6 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 4 Nestlé milk chocolate bars
- 1¼ cups peanut butter, divided
Directions
- Put the chocolate chips, chocolate bars, and ¼ cup of the peanut butter in the top of a double boiler over hot (not boiling) water. Stir until smooth.
- Set out small muffin liners, or cut regular cupcake liners down to a 1-inch depth.
- Spoon half of the chocolate mixture equally into the liners.
- Melt the remaining 1 cup peanut butter over the hot water and spoon it equally over the chocolate layer.
- Top with the remaining chocolate.
- Refrigerate until set before serving.
Chef's Tips
Keep the water hot but never boiling — chocolate seizes when overheated. Cutting regular cupcake liners down to 1 inch works if you can't find the small ones.
